Jonathan Poe, accompanist, is the Organist and Choirmaster at Christ Episcopal Church in Macon, Georgia. He holds the Master of Music in Organ Performance from the Townsend School of Music at Mercer University where he studied with Dr. Jack Mitchener. During his time at Mercer he studied organ performance, organ and choral literature, and sacred music. In addition to organ, he studied choral conducting with Dr. Stanley L. Roberts. He received his Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance from the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University where he studied organ and sacred music with Dr. Joby Bell.
Mr. Poe has performed across North Carolina and Georgia. In December of 2016, Mr. Poe and the Christ Church Choir performed at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta for the Diocesan Service of Confirmation. He has participated in organ workshops with David Craighead, Jonathan Biggers, David Briggs, John Ferguson, David Higgs, Marilyn Keiser, Christophe Mantoux, Jack Mitchener, John Mueller, Margaret Mueller, and Christa Rakich. In 2012 Jonathan had the honor of serving as Organ Scholar for the Carolina Course of the Royal School of Church Music in Raleigh where he accompanied Choral Eucharists and Evensongs. As a collaborative pianist, he has performed for many vocal, choral, and instrumental recitals at Mercer University, Appalachian State University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, as well as for choral ensembles such as, the Appalachian Chorale, the North State Chorale, the Lexington Choral Society, and the Rowan-Salisbury Choral Society. Mr. Poe is a member of several professional organizations including the American Guild of Organists and the Royal School of Church Music.
